On March 18, 2017, Hyperbaric Medical Solutions (HMS) presented to the Operation Initiative Foundation—an organization that aims to support and raise money for veterans and their families.
Physician assistant, and former marine, Randy Parr, spoke with foundation members and supporters, as well as several local and state politicians, decision-makers, and influencers, present in the audience about how hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is helping veterans and active-service members suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Benefits of HBOT
Regarded as the "Signature injury" of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, Parr described how HBOT works and cited several Hyperbaric Medical Solutions (HMS) success stories where PTSD and TBI patients experienced positive effects from the treatment, including improved focus, memory and sleep, positive mood changes such as reduced volatility and irritability, dissipation of anxiousness and headaches, and reduced dependency on serious pharmaceuticals.
Because of the positive effects that many veterans experience while undergoing HBOT, HMS has been treating veterans suffering from PTSD and TBI for years at no cost.* HMS continues to offer this program to our American heroes as a token of our appreciation to all that our servicemen and servicewomen have done and continue to do to protect our country. It is the vision of HMS for HBOT to become part of the standard of care for individuals suffering from PTSD and TBI.
