HMS is pleased to report that the FDA and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) recently approved treatment of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. In approving the treatment, the organizations recognized that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is proven to be one of the only effective treatments for the condition, which is caused by clots or fat deposits, and often results in sudden blindness, blurring, or partial loss of vision.
