We had been treating a 55 year old male who was in a massive car accident 4 years prior and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). His spouse was his caretaker 24/7 through his regiment of aggressive PT, OT and speech therapy. He was weak, wheelchair bound, lethargic, had minimal speech, required tube feedings and suctioning, and totally dependent on his spouse for care. However, after starting hyperbaric therapy and continuing his other therapies he showed significant progress and eventually was able to walk with a walker. Then one day, after treatment, right there in front of all of us at the facility, he looked at his wife and stated, “I love you Deb”. She had waited 4 years to hear those words. After that emotional moment I called Hyperbaric Medical Solutions “The House of Hope”.
